Who we are

EVChargerCost is an independent resource for UK electric-car drivers. We build straightforward calculators and practical guides to help answer questions about EV charging time, home charging costs, running costs, chargepoint grants and the UK’s transition to zero-emission vehicles.

Every current tool on the site is free to use, with no sign-up, account or paywall. Our aim is to make complicated EV cost and policy questions easier to understand using transparent assumptions and calculations that you can adjust where possible. EVChargerCost is not tied to an energy supplier, vehicle manufacturer, charger brand or installation company. Calculator results are based on the inputs and methodology shown in each tool rather than on commercial relationships.

Why we built it

A lot of EV information online is either generic, based on non-UK electricity prices, or presented without showing how the answer was calculated. We wanted to build tools specifically around the decisions UK drivers actually have to make.

Where a calculator needs a benchmark, we use a relevant UK figure and identify the assumption being used. Wherever practical, we also let you enter your own electricity rate, mileage, fuel price or other real-world figures so the result is more useful to you. Time-sensitive information such as Ofgem electricity benchmarks, OZEV grants and government transport policy is reviewed periodically and dated when appropriate. These figures can change, so important financial or eligibility decisions should also be checked against your own supplier, vehicle information or the latest official guidance.

How we keep the lights on

EVChargerCost does not currently charge visitors to use its calculators. As the site develops, it may be supported by clearly identified commercial activity such as referral or affiliate links, EV charger installation leads, display advertising, and licensing or white-label use of our calculators by other businesses. Commercial relationships do not change the calculation methodology or determine the result a tool gives you. Where a link, recommendation or enquiry has a commercial relationship attached to it, we aim to make that clear to the user.
