UK EV chargepoint grants 2026 — what’s available?
From 1 April 2026, OZEV restructured its residential chargepoint grants into two simplified schemes, both offering up to £500 (75% of cost) and both running until 31 March 2027. The biggest change is that flat owners and renters in any residential property can now apply under Scheme 1 — previously the grant was largely restricted to homeowners with driveways.

How much does a home EV charger cost after the grant?
A typical 7 kW smart home wallbox costs between £800 and £1,200 fully installed before the grant. After the £500 OZEV grant (75% of cost, up to £500), most homeowners pay between £300 and £700 for a quality smart charger installed by an approved company. The grant significantly reduces the upfront cost and most installations pay for themselves within 12–18 months through reduced public charging costs.
What changed on 1 April 2026?
The main changes from 1 April 2026 were: the grant amount increased from £350 to £500; flat owners were added to the eligible group under Scheme 1; a new Scheme 2 was introduced for households with on-street parking only; and all schemes were extended until 31 March 2027. The workplace and landlord grants also increased to £500 per socket.

How long is the grant available for?
The updated grant schemes run until 31 March 2027. OZEV has stated this is a final year extension — it is not guaranteed that the grants will be renewed beyond this date. If you are considering installing a home charger, applying before March 2027 ensures you can access the current funding.
Which EV chargers qualify for the OZEV grant?
Only chargers on the OZEV approved product list qualify. Most major UK home charger brands are approved, including Pod Point, Ohme, Hypervolt, Zappi (myenergi), and Wallbox.
